Faroe islands

Faroe Islands– Is under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Denmark and situated between the North Atlantic and the Norwegian Sea. Its total population as of 2010 was 50,000 and approximately 540 square miles. In 850 A.D Norsemen settled the islands bringing the Norse language with them which eventually has now turned into the modern Faroese language. The village of Gasadalur and the island of Mykines in the background. Until a tunnel was built in 2004, the 16 residents living in Gasadalur had to hike or ride horseback over the 400 meter mountain in order to make it to the other villages. http://i.imgur.com/5EkG8.jpg
